.导演迪恩·德布洛斯心中最棒的续集电影是《星球大战2：帝国反击战 》，他称此片为他拍《驯龙高手2》的灵感源泉。
.导演迪恩·德布洛斯认为大多数动画片续集都没有存在的意义，当梦工厂希望他执导时他直接告诉CEO杰弗里·卡森伯格，避免问题的最好办法是把男主角嗝嗝的故事打造成三部曲，否则他不会接手。
.《驯龙高手》上映后一个月后梦工厂就计划拍续集，制作周期整整四年。
.《驯龙高手2》总共启用30-40名动画技师，不过在冲刺完成影片的最后几个月剧组必须借用人才，最高时有50名动画技师同时制作影片。
.导演迪恩·德布洛斯在2011年奥斯卡颁奖典礼上找到凯特·布兰切特并告诉她在《驯龙高手2》中有一个为她量身打造的角色。布兰切特表示非常感兴趣，因为她的孩子们非常喜欢《驯龙高手》。
